Developing Country Creditworthiness and Financial Market Innovation
Ronald L. Solberg
Chapter 14 in Economic Development and World Debt, 1989, pp 167-180 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter analyses the prospects of developing-country debt repayment given the current state of the international capital markets. It examines the impact which the structural changes in the international capital markets have had on the sources and uses of the external funds of developing countries since 1981. A set of policy recommendations is proposed to aid global financial stability, within the context of the current risks associated with capital market innovation, the geographic distribution of credit flows, and the industrial and debtor country policy stances.
