Abstract: Abstract This report discusses the position of developing countries in the global trading system; a widely used but often elusive concept. Our use of the term refers to the set of national laws, and internationally negotiated arrangements, which govern the conduct of international trade. As such, the system covers all manner of countries: large and small, developed and developing, debtor and creditor, manufacturing and commodity exporters, those which are contracting parties to the GATT and those which are not.
