Transnational Corporations and Ocean Technology Transfer

Abstract:
Abstract World attention is increasingly focusing on the crucial role of ocean resources as a major source of global natural resource development. To a large extent, this pronounced interest in the economic potential of the oceans is the direct result of the extension of territorial jurisdiction over ocean resources to 200-nautical miles by the coastal states of the world. Another contributing factor is the considerable interest in the deep seabed and its resources triggered by the UN Law of the Sea Convention concluded in December 1982.
