The Macroeconomy

Bob Sedgwick

Chapter 1 in Understanding the UK Economy, 1990, pp 19-68 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In the course of this book we will be examining a great many facets of the aggregate economy. Certain of these require detailed consideration, and hence have an entire chapter given over to their analysis. A number, however, require less detailed treatment, and it is our main purpose in Chapter 1 to bring them together at an early stage in our overall discussion. Whilst this necessarily means that Chapter 1 is less cohesive than those that follow, it is important to see its component parts as part of a ‘macroeconomic jigsaw puzzle’, which cannot fully be appreciated until every piece is put into its alloted place.
