A chapter in Fiscal Issues in Adjustment in Developing Countries, 1993, pp 21-42 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Because of large macroeconomic disequilibria characterized by inflation, balance of payments difficulties, and increasing debt obligations, in recent years many countries have adopted economic programs aimed at “adjusting” their economies. By and large, adjustment has aimed at reducing the rate of inflation, improving the balance of payments, and promoting economic growth.
