Chapter 4 in Trade Policies towards Developing Countries, 1993, pp 42-68 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter deals with institutional import-limiting factors in Japan. Under the present international arrangements, most trade policies are required to be applied equally to both developed and developing countries. Strictly speaking therefore, as in the case of the import promotion policies discussed in Chapter 3, there is no import-limiting policy designed specifically for developing countries. This fact also determines the approach taken in this chapter. Policies which specifically affect developing countries, either positively or negatively, are relatively few and these will be discussed in Chapter 5.
