Providing Managers for Changing Organizations

Rosemary Stewart

Chapter 12 in The Reality of Organizations, 1993, pp 163-177 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Organizations need competent managers who can successfully run existing activities. They need managers who can avoid or cope with the threats that face most companies and, increasingly, public-sector organizations as well. They need, too, managers who can make good use of available opportunities. There should be an adequate supply of suitable managers to fill vacancies as they arise, except where they can be obtained from outside.
