Chapter 2 in The Advanced Materials Revolution and the Japanese System of Innovation, 1994, pp 11-30 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter does not intend to provide a survey of the whole body of relevant literature,1 and is organised as described below. In section 2.2 the approach to technical change is examined. It begins by highlighting some of the rather restrictive assumptions of neo-classical theory — rendering it of little use for the work proposed in this book. Some major criticisms made by evolutionary economists of the neo-classical treatment of technological change are summarised.
