Chapter 8 in The Advanced Materials Revolution and the Japanese System of Innovation, 1994, pp 130-159 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract As seen in Chapter 3, the term advanced materials applies to four different groups of materials: polymers, advanced ceramics, new metallic materials and composites. The analysis made in the previous chapter has provided a general view of Japanese firms’ strategy towards these materials. However, it is obvious that any detailed discussion would benefit greatly from a closer look at a specific family of advanced materials.
