Why Monetary Union?

Ian D. Davidson

Chapter 2 in European Monetary Union: The Kingsdown Enquiry, 1996, pp 5-7 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The plan for monetary union in Europe, which was agreed in the 1991 Treaty of Maastricht, is probably the most ambitious project ever undertaken by the European Union. By the same token, deciding whether to take part or not will be one of the most important politico-economic choices that Britain will have had to face this century.
