Chapter 10 in Japan and the European Periphery, 1996, pp 167-179 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In 1994 the Department of Economic Structure at the Autonomous University of Madrid initiated a research project the aim of which was to evaluate the performance of Japanese investment in Spain. The study was focused upon companies with more than 50 per cent of their capital in the hands of Japanese investors. As part of the study only industrial and service sector projects were to be examined, with portfolio investment by Japanese interests excluded from the analysis.3
