The Investment Behaviour of Individual Private Farmers in Latvia

Hans-Joachim Zilcken

Chapter 13 in Transition in the Baltic States, 1997, pp 248-258 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter reports on a survey of private farmers in Latvia and was prepared under the auspices of the World Bank office for the Baltic States in Riga. The main task was to identify the current behaviour of individual private landholders/owners with a view to determining their needs for liquid assets and capital goods, and their likely future investment behaviour. Since interviews could not be conducted with all the private farmers in Latvia, a sample had to be taken. The results presented are based on 120 personal interviews.1
