Abstract:
Abstract Although there is increasing acknowledgement that the development and transfer of environmentally sound technology will be an essential component of the strategy to achieve sustainable development, little is actually known about how to promote and facilitate such development and transfer. It does seem clear, however, that if the failed policies used to ‘facilitate’ the transfer of conventional technology is maintained and applied to the transfer of environmentally sound technology, there is little reason to believe that any significant or rewarding transfers will take place.
