Chapter 3 in Household Welfare in Central Asia, 1997, pp 42-60 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The centrality of survey data in the analysis of household welfare makes a consideration of their sources essential. In this chapter we consider problems of design and collection of household survey data in Central Asia, assess existing sources, and draw some lessons for the future. Our discussion is influenced by the socio-economic characteristics of the region, the circumstances of transition, and the inheritance of surveying techniques and analytical capacity from the Soviet era.
