John-ren Chen

Chapter 9 in Development Economics and Policy, 1998, pp 146-171 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The economic development in Taiwan since the 1950s can be briefly characterized by privatization and liberalization. Liberalization is necessary for privatization, which was the result of the bad performance of public enterprises. In this paper we discuss the reasons for the success of the industrialization in Taiwan.
