Reform and Renewal: Future Directions
D. John Shaw
Chapter 9 in The UN World Food Programme and the Development of Food Aid, 2001, pp 225-252 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The decade of the 1990s was to witness profound changes in food aid generally and in WFP in particular. No one could have envisaged at the beginning of the decade the extent to which both internal and external pressures would lead to re-examination of almost every aspect of WFP’s activities (WFP, 1996b,c). This final chapter describes the far-reaching reforms and changes that took place and ends with a perspective on WFP’s future roles.
