Europe in the Global Financial Market
Alfred Steinherr
Chapter 7 in Europe and Globalization, 2002, pp 143-161 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract London surely was the global financial market until the First World War. To a modern observer today’s role of Europe in the global financial market is much more modest but, as this chapter argues, more significant than what meets the naked eye. To a considerable extent this role is still due to the special place of London in the financial world. This is the point of Section II.
