Chapter Part I in Motivate and Reward, 2003, pp 1-44 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Nothing happens without a reason; everything has a cause. There are both good and bad reasons just as there are clear and unclear causes. Expectation, hope, fear, obligation, reward, ambition, helpfulness, determination, the need for admiration, habit, ritual, need and countless other factors, whether real or imagined, influence our behaviour, actions and reactions, our common lives and experiences, and not least our world of work.
