Abstract:
Abstract Slovenia was the wealthiest and most export-oriented of the former states of Yugoslavia. When it declared its independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991, it managed to maintain relative stability while its neighbours witnessed conflicts of unimaginable atrocities that swept across their landscape. Consequently, Slovenia experienced one of the most fluid transitions from a communist centrally planned economy to a market economy. Hence its motto, ‘A Green Peace of Europe’.
