Chapter 2 in Structural Macroeconomic Change and the Size Pattern of Manufacturing Firms, 2003, pp 29-50 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Before approaching the analysis of the structural change of firms’ size pattern in an empirical perspective, we still need to give the whole concern a firmer theoretical grounding. So far, we have simply analysed the fact that — in the face of the observed changes in “institutional” (macroeconomic) conditions — firms have been, ceteris paribus, induced to search for changes in the organization of productive activities, sub specie of a reduction — in relative terms — of internal transactions, and an expansion of market exchanges.
