Pax Islamica: Malaysia and The Middle East
Michael Backman
Chapter Chapter 20 in The Asian Insider, 2004, pp 159-163 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract President Mohammed Khatami of Iran visited Malaysia for three days in July 2002. He arrived with a 91-member delegation that included five ministers and deputy ministers. Malaysia pulled out all the stops. Why? Because Iran and Malaysia are close trading partners? No, they’re not. Because they’re big investors in each other’s economy? No, not that either. There’s another reason that is evident from all the fuss that was made.
