VCRs and Consistency Problems

Chapter Chapter 7 in Taming HAL, 2003, pp 88-99 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Back in the motel, we are now ready to deal with the video cassette recorder (VCR). Let us go together and explore this human-VCR relationship, something that has become the epitome of inefficient and at times frustrating user interaction. We want to understand what exactly are the problems here and why many of us shy away from using many of its modes and functions.
