Chapter 1 in Capital and Colonialism, 2019, pp 1-11 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter we introduce the major themes of the book. The book deals with the interaction between imperialist policies, colonial institutions and financial markets. We employ empirical data on ventures listed on the London Stock Exchange, operating in Africa during the period 1869 to 1969. The chapter finally provides an overview of the outline of the book.
