Abstract: Abstract Events involved in discovering the examples of historic landscapes in the book are detailed. Appropriate skills and methods for landscape historians are recommended. Among recurrent processes of landscape change, disintermediation and disruptive technology are highlighted. The desirability of conserving historic landscapes is suggested and the special importance of including remnant age-old institutions for allocating resources is explained.
