Chapter Chapter 7 in Exploring the Roots of Systematic Tax Avoidance in Greece, 2021, pp 247-254 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter covers the period 1989–2008 and shows how, in the context of mixed results as far as the economy’s performance was concerned, the structural weaknesses of the Greek tax system remained as present and corrosive as ever before. It is shown how the rigidities and dysfunctionalities of the tax administration kept on creating difficulties for the development of business and the promotion of entrepreneurship, in a fashion strikingly similar to previous decades.
