Chapter Chapter 18 in Westernization Movement and Early Thought of Modernization in China, 2022, pp 339-348 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The rise of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty is the outcome of the knock-on effects of “eternal transformation” in modern times that reflect the transition of an agricultural to industrial society. However, based on the perspective of the history of economic ideology, how should the Westernization Movement be evaluated? Why should it be replaced by the views of the Reformists? This chapter will analyze these issues.
