Chapter Chapter 9 in Reframing Italian Economic History, 1861–2021, 2024, pp 229-236 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract If we were at the closing address—as we are—it could only sound like this: the system of beliefs, of values, of preferences that—in its various incarnations—permeated Italian society throughout the unified adventure was not, is not and—very probably—will not be capable in the near future of generating and sustaining autonomous growth processes.
