Abstract:
Abstract Shipping in Ireland, as a commercial activity, had always been about monetising what appeared to be a geographic advantage. As one of the largest islands in Europe, Ireland it was suggested in nationalist folklore, was ideally placed to take advantage of the abundance of the three seas and oceans that surround it.
