Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides a long-run perspective on environmental and resource economics. The issues discussed include resource depletion, pollution, climate change and the intergenerational relationship between sustainability and future well-being. Important lessons are drawn by comparing historical settings and contemporary development economics that together demonstrate fundamental environmental challenges.
