Abstract:
Abstract Trade policy has returned as an important issue in domestic politics around the world. This chapter provides a historical perspective on globalisation and trade, including views on its political economy, and its impact on well-being and economic development. It focuses on how history can help economists to address a number of important contemporary questions in international trade policy.
