Chapter Chapter 10 in International Business in Australia before World War One, 2022, pp 199-203 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract Like almost all host nations, Australia lacks a study of international business before World War One. We began this study by drawing attention to the paucity of host impact studies but also to the fact that Australia was relatively unusual as a host because it was a successful resource-based economy. In drawing together our conclusions, we argue that Australian experience proved to be quite different from much of what is known, or supposed, of the effects of MNEs on many economies although there are grounds for comparison with several hosts.
