Chapter Chapter 7 in International Business in Australia before World War One, 2022, pp 129-152 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In Chaps. 4 and 5 we unearthed the presence of a relatively large and increasingly diverse international business community in Australia up to 1914, which was spread across economic sectors, geographic locations and organisational business forms. In Chap. 6 our interest focussed on understanding why they came to Australia. The following two chapters look at the impact of these foreign firms on the host colonies in terms of economic development, spatiality, competition and innovation.
