Chapter 5 in Agribusiness Innovation and Contextual Evolution, Volume I, 2024, pp 103-130 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) adoption derives mainly from consumers’ demand for companies to be responsible for the impacts of their actions. This chapter aims to identify the most current CSR practices in the Portuguese agri-food sector and identify how companies communicate their behaviour to their stakeholders. To this end, the two largest clusters of Portugal, InovCluster and PortugalFoods, were subjected to an exploratory investigation seeking to find trends in the publication of CSR/equivalent reports or information. The research offers essential findings that policymakers and researchers can use to guide possible paths to improve CSR communication practices in the agri-food sector in line with the needs and demands of today’s consumers.
