Chapter Chapter 11 in Global Challenges and Uncertainty in Tourism and Hospitality, Volume I, 2025, pp 299-342 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents a systematic review of resilience strategies within the global tourism and hospitality sectors, with the objective of synthesising disparate research and establishing a comprehensive framework to enhance industry adaptability. Through an examination of the Scopus database, a total of 58 articles published from 2014 to 2024 were scrutinized, with an emphasis on Global Tourism and Ηospitality Resilience. The analysis highlights the interrelated characteristics of these themes, underscoring that resilience necessitates a comprehensive strategy that incorporates proactive crisis management, collaboration among stakeholders, sustainable practices, and advancements in technology. This research provides theoretical insights by enhancing the comprehension of the interactions among various dimensions of resilience, as well as practical implications for industry practitioners and policymakers. Strategies including public–private partnerships, initiatives for digital transformation, and practices of adaptive management are essential for improving preparedness and sustainability. This review enhances the current body of literature by addressing theoretical deficiencies and offering practical strategies to effectively manage the uncertainties encountered by the tourism and hospitality industries. Subsequent investigations ought to focus on overcoming methodological constraints by integrating a wider array of data sources and empirical validation, thereby enhancing the robustness of the resilience framework.
