Abstract:
Abstract Research on data ecosystems is becoming an emerging field of study. Data ecosystems are socio-technical networks in which actors collaborate to find, archive, or reuse data to foster innovation, create value, and support new businesses. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participating in such networks should receive particular attention given their significant role in generating value. In this study, a bibliometric analysis examines the evolution of literature on SMEs and data ecosystems. The aim is to examine the current trends in data ecosystems and SMEs, and the main characteristics, opportunities, and challenges SMEs have in participating in data ecosystems. The study provides an overview of the evolution of these themes and identifies future research paths.
