Chapter 4 in The British Insurance Industry Since 1900, 2009, pp 31-37 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract The 1930s were stressful for Britain’s economic and political events. In addition to the Great Crash, major bankruptcies, soaring unemployment, the rise of Nazism in Germany, the Spanish Civil War and Italian adventures in Africa created a climate of economic stress and political turbulence and a feeling of apprehension about a coming war.
