Abstract The impact of the financial crisis on various banking and financial systems has been severe, even dramatic, and has required interventions of different kinds: bailout operations by governments; regulatory and supervisory rethinking by policy makers and supervisory authorities; and, for financial intermediaries, the definition of new strategies and refocusing of their business.
