Chapter 5 in Thirty Years of Islamic Banking, 2005, pp 72-87 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract There are several aspects of a firm’s operations that need to be watched by financial managers, who commonly use many ratios. In this chapter we employ some of these ratios to evaluate the performance of Islamic banks. For this purpose, the same sample of twelve Islamic banks as was chosen for the analysis in Chapter 4 will be employed. We will attempt to evaluate Islamic banks with respect to their soundness, prudence, effectiveness in the use of funds, economy and profitability.
