Investing
Andrea Schertler
Chapter 4 in The Venture Capital Industry in Europe, 2006, pp 42-75 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter deals with the investing behaviour of private equity companies in portfolio firms. Investing is the second phase in the venture capital cycle, and this phase is more complex and lasts longer than the fundraising and exiting phase. In this phase, private equity companies select promising portfolio firms, they invest money in these firms, and they add their particular services to these firms. At the same time, private equity companies follow particular portfolio strategies in order to control portfolio risks and to increase portfolio returns.
