Cross-Country Variations in Investments

Andrea Schertler

Chapter 6 in The Venture Capital Industry in Europe, 2006, pp 92-110 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter deals with cross-country variations in venture capital and private equity investments. It differs from the previous chapters in two main regards. First, it focuses exclusively on the industry features in Europe’s private equity industries, while previous chapters have likewise focused on the microeconomics of venture capital finance and, to a lesser extent, on its industry features. Second, the aim of this chapter is not mainly to summarize the results of recent research but to analyse empirically the determinants of cross-country variations in investments. This analysis draws substantially from the insights of the previous chapters.
