Abstract: Abstract This chapter illustrates a new portrait of the speculator of financial markets starting from a time where the emergence of guilds and corporations is essential in the progress of human kind. This chapter analyses forms of evolution of financial markets from the incorporation of the first public company with the VOC in Amsterdam, and the rise of the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. The popularity of coffeehouses in London and New York, and the first establishment of closed physical exchanges respectively the London Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange. It concludes with a glance into the future of securities markets with the rise of the Special Purpose Acquisition Company on New York exchanges.
