Chapter Chapter 2 in Bank-FinTech M&As and Banking Innovation, 2025, pp 13-36 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter, adopting theoretical approach, reviews the existing literature of FinTech-Bank M&As, assessing their impact on bank performance and highlighting the integration challenges linked to these operations. This chapter briefly examines global M&A trends in the banking sector, exploring the rationale behind banks’ investments in FinTech firms. Additionally, this chapter addresses cultural integration challenges, emphasising the need for sustained efforts to align different organisational structures, technological assets, and regulatory frameworks that characterised incumbent and newcomer operators.
