Abstract: Abstract A review of the literature on MRLs and their effect on International trade international trade is presented. The literature is far from extensive but, in general, confirms the propositions regarding the effects of Asynchronous asynchronous Regulatory regimes regulatory regimes among countries. Reduced international trade levels are reported. The nature of the observed Barriers to trade (TBT) barriers to trade arising from asynchronous MRL Regulations regulations is explained.
