Abstract:
Abstract In this millennium, consumption patterns in services have been focused on experiences, as in the tourism industry, where customers search for authentic experiences guided by native people. With the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, these experiences have been confined to “home” and powered by advances in technology, transforming and redefining not only markets but also consumption patterns. So, it can be viewed as an opportunity to learn more about consumers and their attitudes towards organisations. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to uncover the changes in consumption patterns of tourists after the COVID-19, by making a systematic literature review based on previous outbreaks and the COVID-19 impacts on the tourism industry. A set of major transformations in the consumption patterns of tourists is presented, which will contribute to theory with new insights about the consumer behaviour and to practise, where managers urgently need to understand this new customer.
