Chapter 10 in Business for Sustainability, Volume II, 2024, pp 209-232 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This chapter aims to present and analyse an innovative educational framework for the strengthening of the food industry’s sustainability. FOODI project developed this mechanism to support food companies in Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand. The methodological steps for the creation of this educational environment included qualitative and quantitative tools for the needs analysis, the development of specialized curricula through study visits, a staff training process, the educational programmes’ accreditation and a fruitful cooperation of five EU and eleven Asian partners. The outcome offered the establishment of nine MSc programmes, ten Vocational Education Training (VET) courses and ten centers of excellence in the Asian universities and a wide network of enterprises that supported students’ internships, created a dynamic ecosystem that promotes innovation and guarantees the sustainability of the food industry.
