Chapter Chapter 1 in Non-Profit Organisations, Volume II, 2024, pp 1-20 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Non-profit organisations (NPOs) operate within a multifaceted environment and are crucial in tackling societal challenges in various industries. Yet they encounter a dynamic and demanding environment due to economic fluctuations, global crises, technological advancements, and alterations to regulations. In this conceptual chapter, we investigate how NPOs address these challenges by diversifying funding sources, engaging stakeholders, undergoing digital transformation, and adopting entrepreneurial strategies. Our research contributes a conceptual framework that serves as foundational tool and designed to guide NPOs in navigating their complex operational environment as well as offering a structured lens though which challenges, strategies can be examined in detail. This study emphasises the resilience and adaptation strategies used by NPOs to maintain their mission and increase social value through the synthesis of literature findings and conceptual analysis. It highlights the importance of conducting more research on NPO dynamics in light of changing global challenges and technological progress.
