Chapter Chapter 8 in Non-Profit Organisations, Volume II, 2024, pp 169-192 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This study explores social entrepreneurship in Palestine, focusing on civil society organisations (CSOs) and their role in addressing socio-economic challenges and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Combining quantitative analysis from a survey of 140 Palestinian CSOs and qualitative insights from stakeholder interviews, it reveals the absence of a dedicated legal framework for social entrepreneurship. Emphasising the need for tailored regulations, the study prioritises poverty eradication, aligning with SDG 1. Non-profits, cooperatives, and NGOs focus on SDGs 8, 5, 3, and 4. The research highlights overlooked SDGs (7, 13, 15, 14, 12), signaling areas for increased attention. Valuable for policymakers and practitioners, this study offers a roadmap for sustainable development in Palestine.
