Chapter Chapter 4 in Business in Uncertainty, 2024, pp 71-89 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This research explores the role of the blockchain in reducing climate change and social disparities in the waste management sector. In turn, it evaluates how blockchain involves new stakeholders and fosters positive environmental and social impacts. By employing a theoretical inductive approach we present a conceptual framework that underscores the interconnectedness of institutional, environmental, and social systems, emphasizing blockchain’s role in fostering inclusivity and sustainability in the waste management sector. Theoretical contributions focus on ecological economics, innovation management, and development studies, while managerial implications underscore the need for supportive policies and incentives.
