Chapter Chapter 2 in Luigi Amoroso, 2022, pp 7-27 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract The chapter explores the first phase of Amoroso’s scientific activity. Having graduated in mathematics in 1907, he gradually overcame his personal doubts regarding his professional destiny. After a brief experience as an assistant of theoretical physics, he chose the path of economic studies, following the suggestions of Maffeo Pantaleoni, who put Amoroso in touch with Pareto. Amoroso’s contributions from this period are numerous, and they reveal him as one of Pareto’s brightest students. During this period Amoroso also made important contributions in the field of mathematics and statistics.
