Abstract: Abstract In Part IV, we attempt an interpretation of the role the estimated resource transfer seems to play in The British Crown and Joan Robinson’s views on development. This chapter dwells on the drain controversy and the reasons of backwardness, while the following chapter brings out the role of the state.
